Yesterday night, one of the major events of the Midem, Gaia, was presented for the first time in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals. Agigantic project - dedicated to sensibilise us on the protection of the environment - born in the head of composer Alan Simon. For this occasion, over 350 musicians and twenty international guest stars (Midnight Oil, Zucchero, Anggun, Cesaria Evora, Didier Lockwood, Manu Dibango) are united.
On top of the studio album, which recording lasted three years and will be released on March 21st, a live album will be recorded in several places, such as the Himalayas - where will be organised in March 2003 a symbolic "Walk for life" as well as sessions of improvised music - the Amazon and the Sahara. A concert "for the planet" is also planned in September 2003 in Paris.
Associated with some films on nature and scientific figures about the actual and close future of the planet, this musical show has all the chances to be a large commercial success.
The benefices generated by this "enormous humanitarian machine" will be used to develop an educational program on environment that should be studied in schools worldwide ...
We will see what impact will actually have this project on the protection of the environment of our planet "Gaia"....
Another major event, the first "Urban Attitude" evening organised at Midem, to celebrate the opening of the Urban Village, obviously dedicated to urban music...
French rap and hip hop artists TTC and Lady Laistee were invited, as well as the Americans City High...
